So you just purchased your first metal detector and try to find coins and other treasures. You're in the right place! Here are some basic steps that will increase its motto is and build your coin collection.
Information is key to start and one of the best ways to learn is to join a metal detector or treasure hunting club. A lot of information comes from attending meetings and learning of members who are delighted to have you aboard. Make friends, get assistance and sharing of direct benefits of membership. Subscribe to publications of treasure hunting and Treasury bills and lost to West and East Treasury.
The results provide great treasure stories, field reports of new equipment and sensors, tips and techniques metal detection and reporting techniques to help all levels of prospectors. It is also very important to study the manual supplied with your detector. Knowing that your detector is essential. We all want the best metal detector. Who has all the bells and whistles that go beyond the rest. Depth is important, but it is so important. Since 1900, over 100 million coins were lost in the U.S. alone. Even the best detectors to find coins in the range of 10-12 inches. By having a mind of treasures to find and good research, find the points that others have not hunted, and most goals can only be a few inches (90 per cent of my finds most currencies were valued less than 5-7 cm depth).
The best research is to know their local history. I call it the hometown advantage. 35,000 to 50,000 pieces My goalkeeper was in my hometown in central Florida. The research is the most important aspect of your search for information. Libraries have local history books. Study of old maps of their community, and especially about the elderly. Most of them like to share (the good old days) it used to be. The Internet is also an excellent tool for research. Go to a search engine and type "History …" (Your community, town, city, etc.) You will be amazed at the new points to add to your list.
When I start my pieces of metal detector? This is a good question, and its location is key. If you live near a beach which is a good place to start. However, they are rather goalie currencies that are from their own backyard or a friend or family member point. Most metal detectors sold today are features that help avoid discrimination junk like nails, foil, bottle caps and pulltabs. But more sophisticated, less depth will be. Use less discrimination and digging elements more and you will learn to distinguish different types of signals. Pulltabs discrimination will be lost nickels and small gold coins and rings. I dug more than 40 cents and 11 cents buffalo V on a batch of poor quality as the other hunters did not have the patience to download the discriminators. Start with a yard, field or to beach until you learn to tell the remote signal, and then move on to much of the spam that most users will not switch. Remember, you will find trash and treasure. I have been very thorough in the investigation and one in three currencies have been responsible. Others have paid for my gas, food, batteries, etc.
To conclude this introduction to start metal detecting for coin I give my personal code of ethics. Here's parts search – Larry
